# SimpleX
> SimpleX is the first messaging network without user identifiers of any kind – no phone numbers, usernames or random IDs – so nobody, including its servers, can see who talks to whom. SimpleX Chat is the free, open-source app for iOS, Android, Linux, macOS and Windows that uses this network, and the company that builds both.
Each conversation uses its own one-way message queues with random addresses, and contacts are stored only on users' devices. Messages are end-to-end encrypted with a double ratchet that adds a post-quantum key exchange on every step. Anyone can run servers; SimpleX Chat and Flux operate the servers preset in the app. Trail of Bits assessed the implementation in 2022 and reviewed the cryptographic design in 2024.
