Adds Station_G3_ESP32_repeater_observer_mqtt and
Station_G3_ESP32_room_server_observer_mqtt, mirroring the known-good
Station G2 observer envs. The two boards are the same family — ESP32-S3,
qio_opi, PSRAM, 16 MB flash, SH1106 display — so the overlay ports across
unchanged: default_16MB.csv partitions, adafruit-full cert bundle,
MQTT bridge + SNMP, and the same lib_deps pinning.
Verified the G3 partition signature is byte-identical to the G2 observer's,
so the OTA partition-compatibility gate treats them the same. Both envs
build clean (1.67 MB of the 6.25 MB app slot, 28% RAM) and produce the full
CI artifact set via build.sh: .bin, -merged.bin and .partsig. Observer env
discovery now finds 32 envs (was 30) and the ArduinoJson pin check covers
both new sections.
Docs: added the G3 build commands and the two partition-table rows to
MQTT_IMPLEMENTATION.md.
The [Xiao_S3_WIO] base block lost its sensor wiring when upstream
3dd6dc02 ("xiao_s3: use environment sensor manager and add sensor
role") was resolved to our side in a later merge. Only the .ini half
was dropped -- target.h/target.cpp kept the EnvironmentSensorManager,
so builds still compiled helpers/sensors with an empty SENSOR_TABLE:
no ENV_INCLUDE_* macros meant the table held only its sentinel, so
begin() scanned the I2C bus and initialized nothing and querySensors()
emitted nothing above channel 1.
Reported as an INA226 missing from channel 2 on a MQTT Observer build,
working on stock firmware. Affected every Xiao_S3_WIO env, including
the dedicated Xiao_S3_WIO_sensor role.
Restores sensor_base build_flags/lib_deps, -UENV_INCLUDE_GPS and the
PIN_BOARD_SDA/SCL defines, making the base block identical to upstream
again. Also picks up the commented rs232 pin relocation from the same
upstream commit, since 5,6 is now the I2C bus.
Flash on Xiao_S3_WIO_repeater_observer_mqtt: 42.7% -> 44.3%.
Implement SNMP functionality in MyMesh to provide radio diagnostics
and statistics updates. This includes a new method for formatting
radio diagnostic replies and periodic updates to the SNMP agent
with radio stats, enhancing monitoring capabilities for users
with SNMP enabled.
(cherry picked from commit fbe608d6c0)
Added functionality for neighbor discovery, including the ability to
store and manage neighbor information. This includes methods for
sending discovery requests, handling responses, and updating the
neighbor table. The changes enhance the mesh networking capabilities
by allowing devices to discover and interact with nearby peers more
effectively. Updated relevant structures and methods in MyMesh.cpp
and MyMesh.h to support these features.
Credit: @yellowcooln (PR #12). Adds Wireless Tracker v1.1 board
def and MQTT observer envs for v1.1/v2; gate FEM control so v1.1
builds without KCT8103L pins.
The 30s "MQTT: Memory" line was useful during the outbox/sync-publish
investigation but is spam for production. Gate the periodic logMemoryStatus()
call in the MQTT task loop behind MQTT_MEMORY_DEBUG (a dedicated diagnostics
flag, not enabled by plain MQTT_DEBUG or production builds) and stop the
heltec_v3 variant from force-enabling MQTT_MEMORY_DEBUG on its observer_mqtt
envs (now commented out to match heltec_v4). logMemoryStatus() itself is kept
intact for opt-in debugging.
Expose the same data on demand via a new `get mqtt.stats` CLI command backed by
MQTTBridge::formatMqttStatsReply(): free/max heap, queue depth, outbox total,
and per-slot publish ok/err counts (1-based, matching the msgs: line). Fits the
160-byte reply buffer at 6 slots; returns "(bridge not running)" when down.
companion_radio has its own NodePrefs without radio_fem_rxgain (matching
upstream, which doesn't wire companion either), so the startup call added in
e905451d broke every companion build:
MyMesh.cpp:973: error: 'struct NodePrefs' has no member named 'radio_fem_rxgain'
It went unnoticed behind the pre-existing companion build failures.
Also port upstream's FEM LNA overrides for heltec_t096 and heltec_tracker_v2
verbatim (board overrides + isLNAEnabled/const getters), so all three boards
upstream wires now match instead of reporting unsupported. Both variant files
compile; those targets still fail overall on the pre-existing non-observer
MQTT-source build-config issue (unchanged with this work stashed).
Completes the FEM RX-gain restoration begun in the CAD/prefs change, which
persisted radio_fem_rxgain but didn't yet drive the hardware. Also dropped
by the 22eb9b87 revert; restored to match upstream.
- MainBoard: setLoRaFemLnaEnabled()/canControlLoRaFemLna()/isLoRaFemLnaEnabled()
virtuals (default: can't control — non-FEM boards report unsupported)
- heltec_v4: board overrides driving loRaFEMControl; LoRaFEMControl gains the
isLNAEnabled() getter (it already tracked lna_enabled and drove the FEM)
- CLI: `set radio.fem.rxgain on/off` / `get radio.fem.rxgain` (guarded by
canControlLoRaFemLna, so it reports "unsupported" on non-FEM boards)
- app startup applies the persisted pref: board.setLoRaFemLnaEnabled(
_prefs.radio_fem_rxgain), beside setRxBoostedGainMode
Default is ON (upstream), so on FEM boards the LNA is enabled after upgrade —
a real reception behavior change to confirm on hardware. The other FEM
variants (heltec_t096/tower_v2/tracker_v2) need the same small board-override
addition; until then `radio.fem.rxgain` reports unsupported there (no
regression — status quo).
Builds: heltec_v4 repeater-observer + room-observer (FEM board), Heltec_v3
repeater (non-FEM, base virtuals no-op). NEEDS on-device validation on a
Heltec V4.
Enhanced the firmware versioning system by appending a build number
suffix when available, allowing for better tracking of published builds.
This change improves the OTA update process by providing clearer
versioning information in the embedded firmware string.
Added functionality to support pull-based OTA updates by fetching firmware
from a manifest. The new `otaFromManifest` method allows the system to
check for available updates and flash the firmware if necessary. This
enhancement improves the update process for observer builds using the
MQTT bridge, ensuring a more seamless firmware management experience.
Updated the build-observer-firmwares.yml to improve the asset pruning
logic during the release process. The workflow now retains the most
recent build hashes to prevent 404 errors for assets that may still
be requested during build cycles. This change ensures a smoother
release experience by maintaining necessary assets while cleaning
up older ones.
This is a consolidation of my changes for BME680 on RAK4631 nodes.
I will close my other PRs related to this and link back to this one.
*Background on change:*
This change replaces the Adafruit BME680 driver on RAK4631 with the
Bosch BSEC library. Other boards continue to use the existing
Adafruit path via ENV_INCLUDE_BME680.
This makes the IAQ portion of the sensor functional, and more accurate.
It also contains the math and/or CayenneLPP fixes from my other PRs.
The Bosch code also appears to handle calibrating sensor aging as well,
whereas the Adafruit code is just looking at blind values that can drift
with time. Pretty cool to see this shooting out useful data!
RAK4631 platform.io is set to override to ENV_INCLUDE_BME680_BSEC while
leaving the Adafruit code for other node types. (If this becomes applicable
for other node types in future, awesome! I just don't have hardware
to test against.)
Using the BSEC library introduces IAQ sensor calibration, and saves
the calibration state periodically so it does not have to calibrate
again later.
At startup the IAQ sensor takes 30 minutes to heat and to hit a baseline,
then starts calibrating. Once calibrated, it will save those settings
and will only write settings again if calibration falls back and restores
back to state 3.
This fix also has the gas resistance math fix that was in
[pull 2146](https://github.com/meshcore-dev/MeshCore/pull/2146) so
the adafruit path also can at least show accurate values instead
of looping negative.
Also includes the fix from [pull 2149](https://github.com/meshcore-dev/MeshCore/pull/2149) so the pressure output isn't truncated to 1hPa steps.
*Fixes/Changes:*
- Add bsec_config_iaq[] with the 3.3V/3s-LP/28d calibration profile
- BSEC init applies setConfig() for voltage-correct heater targeting
- IAQ, heat-compensated temperature/humidity, pressure, and altitude
reported over CayenneLPP
- IAQ accuracy reported as analog input over CayenneLPP (0,1,2,3)
- Calibration state persisted to /bsec_state.bin on nRF52 internal
flash; written only when iaqAccuracy improves to >= 2, should
keep write frequency well within flash endurance over device lifetime
- Fix non-BSEC query_bme680: float pressure division, addGenericSensor
for gas resistance (was addAnalogInput, overflows at > 327 Ohm)
- loop() correctly gated for both GPS and BSEC-only builds
- Add fix_bsec_lib.py extra_script to resolve nRF52840 hard-float ABI
mismatch in Bosch's PlatformIO packaging, silly Bosch
One general note outside of this code change: I noticed while BME680
_functions_ in companion nodes, since companion nodes run Bluetooth,
BLE preempts the CPU, and can do so mid-I2C-transaction.
This can cause the BME680 to see an anomaly and drop calibration and
start a recalibrate. This is behavior that will exist (and has existed)
regardless of using the Adafruit or Bosch paths.
This particular companion behavior does not seem to occur in sensor
or repeater nodes since their BLE is off. Probably affects other
I2C devices as well.
*Tests:*
- RAK19003
- RAK19007
- RAK19001
- repeater, sensor, companion
- Introduced `Heltec_T190_room_server_observer_mqtt` and `Heltec_WSL3_room_server_observer_mqtt` environments.
- Configured SSL certificate handling and embedded files for both environments.
- Set compile-time flags for MQTT settings, including advertisement names, passwords, and MQTT bridge options.
- Updated library dependencies to include necessary MQTT and JSON libraries.
Remove the hardcoded BLE_PIN_CODE build flag from the Heltec_E290_companion_ble
environment. The presence of BLE_PIN_CODE prevents the unit from operating as a
USB companion. Commenting it out allows dynamic PIN generation and enables USB
companion functionality.
- Added guidance for using a single active WSS broker preset in the T-LoRa V2.1–1.6 MQTT observer environments, clarifying that dual TLS sessions may fail due to memory constraints.
- Updated partition table descriptions to reflect the new recommendation for the `LilyGo_TLora_V2_1_1_6_repeater_observer_mqtt` and `LilyGo_TLora_V2_1_1_6_room_server_observer_mqtt` targets.
- Enhanced platformio.ini comments to emphasize the single broker usage and its implications for memory management.
- LilyGo T-LoRa V2.1 observer envs: set ESP32_CPU_FREQ=240 and
MQTT_TASK_STACK_SIZE=16384 only for those targets so classic ESP32
TLS + JWT connect fits the FreeRTOS task; other boards keep the
default 8192 B unless overridden.
- MQTTBridge: use large JSON stack fallbacks only for PSRAM builds when
heap-backed buffers may be null; non-PSRAM paths use the inline
member buffers only, cutting peak stack in status/packet/raw publish.
- MQTTBridge.h: update the StaticJsonDocument comment (no longer refers
to an 8 KiB MQTT task stack).
